In a newspaper article, the UWI guild president talked about blocking all the gates to prevent staff (and visitors) from entering campus. He was quoted as saying, "We allowed the students to come in as normal since we don't want to disenfranchise our students even more."
So tell me who, exactly, is going to teach the students when they get to their classes? As far as I am aware, the lecturers have not said they aren't going to teach. But the guild action would have prevented some from doing so, in effect denying students access to their lectures.
If this is the kind of logic coming from the guild president, what can we expect from the rest of the student body? No wonder people are complaining that many UWI graduates leave a lot to be desired.
