I don't know how many of you out there are going through domestic violence or some form of abuse.
I heard Pastor Angela Griffith of OB Church, said on a Mothers' day to the women, go buy sneakers, put them on and run for your life.
It is easier said than done. What about women who are not working, or working for insufficient money to maintain her children, pay rent and meet the needs of the children and send them to school? If there are people in their lives to help and support and house them, they are very fortunate.
This is where the church comes in or should come in. The offerings made in the churches should be to help the needy.
If the church is supposed to be a hospital for the afflicted souls, and afflicted souls have nowhere to go, shouldn't the church build homes for battered women/men and children? But many of the churches today don't do anything to house battered families in need.
It's time for the churches to rise up to the call and help battered families, build homes to house them, and give battered lives the protection, love and care that they needed.
In the early church, people were told to sell all that they had and pool the money. All the needs of God's people were met this way.
If the churches are getting back to "home churches" like in olden times, this is one thing to do to help the needy.
I appeal to the churches to begin to think about battered families and begin to build homes to house, care and protect families from abuse.
Children who grow up in this environment, tend to grow old traumatised and mentally incapable of having a normal relationship.
Only the love of God and the blood of Jesus Christ can truly wash away all the pain and suffering that people have experienced in abusive relationships.
If the people are not christians, who can they turn to? Many become suicidal.
I am calling on the churches to step in and begin thinking and doing something constructive to help families in abusive situations.
Get them medical help, get them psychiatric help, and get them food, clothing and housing. Get them to a safe, hiding place–in Christ.
