Congratulations to Kes The Band and their entire team for an excellent show Tuesday night at O2 Park. "Tuesday on the Rocks" was really great and Mr Dieffenthaller had sweet vocals as always. He is really a fantastic performer and I will continue to support his music. Talent like his is rare and his warm personality adds to his appeal. I think he's going to be around for a long time to come. Kes the Band makes all Trinbagonians so proud I'm sure.
However, on a not-so-positive note, I really need to let someone from Kees' camp know something. I'm not sure how involved Mr Dieffenthaller would have been in selecting the MCs for the show, but there were some missteps.
There were two guys hosting, one was Trinidadian and the other was St Lucian. I can't remember their names, though. Admittedly, they were both energetic and did get some crowd response. But from where I stood, my friends, myself and a bunch of other people were reduced to a loud chorus of steups and yawns as both men spoke quite a lot.
Honestly, the Trinidadian guy was tolerable but unfortunately the St Lucian man was way too talkative. What made it worse was he instructed the DJ to "wheel" during every song, so no track was allowed to play beyond ten to 15 seconds. The St Lucian guy kept talking and talking and talking. I like when an MC engages the crowd but this was ridiculous and a vibe-killer.
I honestly hope someone looks at this and please, do not allow that to happen again. I say this with only concern and no malice at all. I will continue to be a Kes fan but if someone like the St Lucian DJ comes back to co-hosting your show, you can count myself and at least ten of my friends out.
