Chaguaramas is a wonderful place. And as more and more people realise that and visit the beaches, marinas, zip line, golf course, restaurants and bars, it has literally become hell to enter and leave. I am sure you have received letters about this topic before but even though it may be repetitious I have to point it out as I have to endure this at least once a week.
Sunday (March 29) friends of mine left Chaguaramas at 6.30 pm and did not reach home until 12.30 am–and they were living in Diego Martin! Half of Powerboats staff had to sleep in Chaguaramas. Easter Monday, some other friends left at 7.30 pm and reached home at 11.30 pm and they were living in Westmoorings!
The traffic is bad on a normal day but what is exacerbating this case is a set of channels dug across the road and some steel plates placed over them in certain sections. The traffic in Chaguaramas does not need any excuse to get worse as one car parked badly in Carenage causes a massive pile-up.
Dr Rowley, MP for the area, the local government representative, Dr Tewarie, line minister for CDA, come on nah man, if we can't solve this simple issue what can we solve?
As nice as Chaguaramas is, five hours of traffic every weekend to get back home will change anyone's mind about going back. A pity as it really is a nice place.
