We would like to publicly commend the doctor, the SRN and staff of the Cumana Outreach Facility who were on duty on Thursday, April 9. Our son injured his arm badly, which required stitching, while hiking in Balandra. We took him to the nearest health centre, the Cumana Outreach Facility which, unknown to us, is not normally equipped to handle accident and emergency cases. Toco Health Centre is the nearest facility to handle accident and emergencies and we should have gone directly there. However, the staff in Cumana insisted, and we mean insisted, that the doctor on duty see the injuries and if anything they would administer first aid before we proceeded to Toco. The doctor was very thorough and immediately attended to our son, stitched his gaping wound and administered medication. The staff could easily have told us to go to Toco and send us on our way, but they were adamant that he be seen and attended to.
All personnel on hand were professional and courteous and the facilities were very clean. We were pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the service we received that day. Keep up the good work!
