The seabathers and swimmers of San Fernando now have improved facilities for safe and convenient access to the waters off Lady Hailes Avenue.
The new facilities have wide steps, a walkway and railings for safety.
Thanks to the mayor who supported the project from the inception, the CEO, City Engineer, Works Supervisor and all who assisted in making this venture a reality.
Despite some hiccups and delays, the project was completed in six months, beginning September 30, 2014, when request was made at a statutory meeting, by representatives from the Sea Bathers and Swimmers Association.
Already, people are coming from all over to use the new facilities, and all are very happy with the end result.
This is most welcome after many years since the disbandment of the regular bathing area to make way for the water taxis.
San Fernandians can now be proud that sea bathing and swimming have been given some consideration as part of our heritage and way of life.
