I visit Maracas Beach almost every weekend, weather permitting, just to enjoy the ambiance of the place. I look forward to the day when the Tourism Development Company will really turn Maracas Beach into a world-class facility, with proper parking, attractive vending booths, not only for shark and bake, which we all love, but to give the public some more eating options especially for the children. And a few gazebos to shelter when it is raining or when the sun is just too much.
There is a large sign saying that the restoration of the beach will start in March 2015; we are now in April and still there's no sign of anything being done.
I saw the Minister of Tourism on television talking about all the plans he has for Maracas but he did not say when it would start or what year.
All this talk about fixing Maracas has been going on for years, but we the citizens of T&T, should not hold our breath hoping that maybe one day Maracas would become a world-class facility.
