After being goaded about being idealess, should he end up as the country's next Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley offers as an example of his vision, a copy-cat of the People's Partnership by offering a road from Valencia to Toco and thereafter a ferry to Tobago.
Now I find it curious, that after failing to deliver the Point Fortin Highway for 40 years, he is offering a new road and a ferry to boot. This is awesome!
It says that even the PNM, for all of its political bankruptcy, sees the importance of a road and I congratulate him on the offer.
But I hate to burst his bubble: he has castigated the present government for providing roads to the Southland and now he wants to offer a road in the East. Is he pandering to supporters in the East and do they matter more than those down in the South?
I also find it strange that he is offering a road, since I recently travelled from Valencia to Toco on the existing road.
How come a new road is needed... maybe he was trying to say a new re-paved road, which is fine. So I am thinking that maybe, he is trying to copy the Valencia by-pass that the Government built.
Moreso, the promise of a ferry is so fairy-tale like. It's like a dream come true! A PNM fairy... oops sorry ferry from Toco to Tobago.
I wait to see if he has a done a feasibility study on this to see is this is financially sustainable...like the rapid rail. This sounds like one of those recurring PNM promises, budget after budget, and never materialise. Indeed, I hope Dr Rowley keeps his word and this ferry is not a balisier fairy.
