Please allow me to address this letter to a talk show host. Please stop propagating your views on the politics of this country as if it is representative of the entire muslim community.
You do not represent or even speak on behalf of a small fraction of the muslims. What group do you represent? How many muslim followers do you have in that group? Why is it that so many local muslim scholars have different views to you? Is it that they are all wrong and you alone are right?
Who talks the loudest and is the most aggressive is not always right. So my dear brother, you need to do some serious introspection. The media are a powerful tool, just like a car, and if misused can have devastating effects. Our Prophet Muhammad (peace be unto him) always respected other peoples' religions and ways of life. We as muslims have lived in harmony and peace with other religious groups in this country for centuries.
It would be a real tragedy for our religious freedoms we enjoy to be taken from us just because of a loud and boisterous talk show host who aggressively and openly campaigns for a political party. We live in a multi-cultural society with two major political parties contesting the elections. Both parties are majority non-muslims. What should the muslim community do? Refrain from voting? We as muslims are free to vote anyone of our choice because we are free to do that.
