I have been paying attention to Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj and his attack on one of the country's most profitable state energy companies, the NGC, and his attempts to bring the NGC into disrepute.
Mr Maharaj has, on more than one occasion, publicly stated that the NGC has interfered with the day-to-day business of Super Industrial Services subsidiaries, in particular Prime, and has colluded with the banks to restrict the cash flow of these companies.
Any person of sound mind will ask, "Where is the evidence?" Mr Maharaj has failed to present concrete evidence of any wrongdoing on the part of the NGC. As a senior counsel one would expect that he would know that his case has no basis without solid evidence to support his claims. Perhaps this is why he has chosen to approach the court of public opinion and not an actual court of law.
To try to muddy the solid reputation of NGC and the financial institutions operating locally is not only reprehensible, but irresponsible, and Mr Maharaj should be ashamed of himself. He claims that he is championing the cause of 800 or so employees who have not been paid salaries due to the supposed actions of the NGC.
NGC is now sparing no effort to recoup the monies owed by SIS. They are the real champion of our nation.
