I fully agree with PM Rowley in his speech at a recent meeting about the police, that "there is no accountability in the system and the people who should be in charge are hiding in the shadows."
This is the same group of police, some of whom are very tainted, (and other security personnel) who are clamouring for salary increases and are willing to wage war on scarce government income. They do not know about holding on until the situation improves.
Therefore, on the point of improvement, accountability and salary increases, I want to advise the PM and the Minister of National Security that if the crime detection rate improves to 25 per cent, the police should get a 25 per cent increase, now! If it raises to 50 per cent, they should get a 50 per cent raise. And if it rises to 75 per cent they all should get a 75 per cent raise plus, those who qualify, should be given Government-assisted housing/land.
Indeed, the largest piece of the budget in any event, is expended on national security.
If not, bite the dust like everybody else and sacrifice like patriotic citizens.
