I must applaud our Honourable Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley for his bold statement made concerning decrimalization of ganja, that is the act of a strong Leader. At the end of the day when all is said and done if things do not work out as expected everyone points there finger to the Leader. People simply forget that they were strong on the idea and that they were part of the process.
Not in my wildest dream I can see doing this as a good thing. The fact is that many have argued this giving most of the time only a positive listing why we should do so. Has anyone taken the time to see the negative implications if we were to decrimalize ganja. I have known homes, families and communities affected immensely because that drug was used by individuals connected to them. Children and wives left unattended because the money earned is being spent to get a smoke. Also bear in mind this is being done while it is illegal to be found with it in your possession. Are you telling me it will become better if decrimalization takes place? I have serious problems believing that.
As citizens we have to learn to think for ourselves and stop allowing outer influence to cloud our judgement. If others choose to do so what make them right and we are wrong it is only a matter of opinion. Let us be courageous enough to take a stand for things that our conscience is saying no too. It does not matter who is saying yes. That is the strength of true Leadership.
For one brief minute use your imagination with me, if decrimalization takes place everyone now will have access, forget the idea that certain measures will be put in place that is only a farce.
The key of discouragement and to some degree of control has already been thrown away and the door is wide open for all type of behaviour to take place. I would not be surprised to see the increase of accidents on the road. Having a smoke before I hit the road or Sir coming into to the class room a little high is now no big thing. These are just a few of the negatives that can take place.
