I'm writing this letter in the hopes that the Minister of Works and Transport Fitzgerald Hinds, or the Prime Minister himself, investigate and correct the highly irregular occurrences taking place in the Licensing Office.
The automobile sales industry and its customers have been subjected to countless headaches within recent months due to a procedural change made that was supposed to speed up the already slow processes, and at the same time reduce clerical errors and put a stop to the alleged corruption within the office.
However, this change has proven to be a complete failure and the complaints to the commissioner have been met with a certain amount of disregard and resistance. As a result, productivity within all automotive sales companies have taken a drastic decline because of the countless wasted hours, days and weeks being spent at the licensing office, in the hopes of receiving services that otherwise can be done within two or three days.
The registration process which includes vehicle inspection, verification of relevant documents, paying for the required services and receipt of certified copy in the past, took about three working days. Now, with this revised policy, the process takes two or more weeks. And should there be an error on the certified copy, we can easily expect three weeks and more!
We are at our wits' end. The situation has become unbearable for all those affected and if left unchecked, will only get worst.
This poor excuse of a public service is costing the automotive industry, the customer and the Government money. We are imploring that something is done. It is the responsibility of the Government. Please help!
