Tobagonians should welcome Sandals to the island. Sandals would create lots of employment for Tobagonians and Trinidadians directly and indirectly.
Its presence should encourage Tobagonians to grow more food and catch fish to supply to the hotel. Although it is an all-inclusive hotel, people still would want to leave the hotel to explore the island and sample some local food and drinks.
Also, with a proper upgrade of the Toco Main Road, and a ferry service from Tobago to Toco, with taxis waiting at their disposal, tourists could be encouraged to take the ferry and drive taking in the scenic views of Matelot, Toco, Cumana, Balandra, Matura all the way to Sangre Grande and maybe on to Manzanilla/Mayaro.
This is something that the THA, TDC and the Government should look into to encourage tourism.
