Despite efforts to get basic required food stuff to Venezuela, mothers are still crying out, not be able to provide food for their children and having to storm other coastlines to get basic needs.
I know that another large shipment is due to leave Trinidad heading to the Venezuela under the control of President Maduro and his regime. Is our dealing with Venezuela just on a business level? Far as I am concern the humanitarian aspect is also very crucial.
If we are serious about the humane aspect of our relationship with Venezuela we need to look closely at development presently in that country. It is clear to see from the reaction of thousands of Venezuelans the food stuff we have sent in no way was filtered to the poor. Let's not be naive–most of it would have stayed in the care of President Maduro and his regime to be shared amongst family, friends, army and very close associates.
We are now going to send the second shipment and do you know what will happen again, the children and the poor in society will be in the same position hungry and in need. While we had all documents in place for purchasing the food stuff, its distribution was in the hands of a government who is responsible for the predicament the country is in. Do we really expect fair play there?
Let us not be fooled by President Maduro and his regime. I know it can be said we did our part by providing the food stuff, but I cannot ignore the thousands who would not benefit, including children, because of the type of leadership that exist there presently.
