It is simply amazing how quickly the Ministry of Works and Transport has responded to the launch of the Uber service in Trinidad after successive administrations have turned a blind eye to the PH taxi service for decades, because of a lack of public transport planning and political will.
If, as stated by Uber, their passengers are in fact covered by a reputable insurance company and their drivers are screened and have supplied certificates of good character, this service is a plus to the travelling public and should be supported.
For too long we have heard of crimes committed, especially on unsuspecting females, by unlicensed PH operators with little or no action taken.
Let's look at the positives that such a services offer and work around the issues and not condemn something that has worked to the benefit of millions throughout the world.
