Are we in hard times?

The headline in the daily newspaper claimed that a $14,000,000 walkover is to be built for pedestrians using the water taxis in Port-of-Spain. That’s 14 million dollars!

The first paragraph of the article states that the walkover will be 40 metres long. That’s approximately 130 feet!

My brain cells may be ageing a bit so I whipped out my calculator to do the math and the cost worked out to $350,000 per metre. That’s $108,000 per foot!

Don’t forget to tighten your belt folks. After all, we are in hard times!
