I, and I am certain the residents of Palmiste, Gulf View, Coconut Drive, Green Acres, Les Efforts West and environs, thank Ravi B for bringing the Chutney Soca Monarch show to a “premature” end at 4 am on February 20.

I was an avid fan of the Soca Monarch finals, having attended since the days when it was next to MovieTowne. I went when it was at the PSA and the Oval. I have stopped going since the experience was no longer enjoyable.

While I empathise with the sentiments that have been expressed by the Original De Fosto Himself about his omission from the National Calypso Monarch finals, I am more than absolutely nonplussed by the omission of young Heather McIntosh.

Tomorrow, Carnival Saturday, the company Carnival Faces, based in the United States, will be launching Carnival Faces Kids, at Brian Lara Promenade, Port-of-Spain, from 7 am to 11 am.

I could not believe it when I heard the dreaded words on the radio last week: “I Am Mania at the Trinidad Country Club.” I thought my neighbourhood would be lucky this year and get away from the mega parties that have become the norm these days but no, it is not to be.

Allow me to commend the DJ trucks at the St James Kiddies Carnival on February 27. I was delighted when they reverently turned off their music while passing the St Theresa’s RC Church during the Sunday evening Mass.
