Fad diets are becoming the way of the world; the social media market is constantly advertising quick fixes for a flat tummy or the perfect bum. What consumers don’t realize is that the people selling these plans don’t actually practice what they’re preaching. And no, I don’t mean that they’re eating a doubles with slight or a beef roti, it’s actually the complete opposite- these fitness influencers are living a full healthy lifestyle.
Social Media fitness influencers always seem to have the best bodies and giving all props to them, they definitely have great physiques but this doesn’t come by doing one squat. Influencers are usually eating well and exercising regularly, which gives them the long-term results that many consumers crave and that’s why they’re inclined to purchase many different fitness or nutrition plans.
Changing the way you view your body does not start with your appearance it starts with changing the way you want your body to feel, the way your nourish it and the way you take care of it. If you’re constantly eating junk, exercising once or twice a week and never being consistent there’s no way that long term results will stick. If you adapt a healthy lifestyle where, you’re nourishing your body based on it’s nutritional needs and goals, moving regularly and promoting blood circulation through exercise and taking care of your body by practicing basic self care needs, the results will be endless. Not only will you see physical results but also, your body just feels better, more energized and ready to take on all the new and exciting things the world has to offer. A happy body and mind will make you unstoppable against the world around you.
Here are a few simple ways to turn diets and fads into a simply healthy and happy lifestyle.
Take a purge
Taking a purge of all negativity in your life is the best way to start. Mental health has a huge impact on overall health and wellness, so think about it this way- do you really need that negative person in your life? Probably not. If there are people in your life that aren’t contributing to it in a positive way then what’s the use?
Get your macronutrients and micronutrients
Many fad diets going around starve our bodies of one or more of the macronutrients needed in bulk to ensure normal growth and function. The three macronutrients that our bodies need are carbohydrates (sugar), proteins (amino acid) and fats (lipids). Carbs are responsible for giving us energy, proteins are necessary for muscle repair and fat is needed to build cell membrane for blood clotting, muscle movement and inflammation and to absorb micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. Micronutrients are just as important as macronutrients; our bodies need vitamins and minerals to perform many different physiological functions.
Drink more water
Did you know that 60% of our bodies are made up of water? Water is essential for normal bodily functions like removing waste, and carrying oxygen and nutrients around our bodies. We generally lose water during the day by perspiration, bowel movements or urination and this needs to be replenished to keep our bodies functioning properly.
Exercise
Movement is a crucial part of life. Research shows that exercise has tremendous benefits for our health and wellness life like, an increased life expectancy, lower risk of diseases, weight loss and higher bone density.
