Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) across T&T continue to find partnerships that can positively impact those in need. The Work, Talent Dedication, Youth, Art, Sports and Cultural Foundation (WTDF) successfully applied to the Digicel Foundation for a grant to purchase back-to-school supplies for students from 20 primary schools across East and West Port-of-Spain.
This initiative came out of a collaboration of primary-school teachers and the youth-based culturally dynamic group. They applied to the Digicel Foundation for a Community Engagement $10,000 grant to cover the cost of the venture.
Diana Mathura-Hobson, Digicel Foundation project co-ordinator, recently presented the back-to-school items to parents and students at the St James Youth Facility.
Some of the beneficiary schools were Mucurapo Boys’ RC, Nelson Street Boys’ RC, Four Roads Government Primary, La Puerta Government Primary and Bethlehem Boys’ RC School to name a few.
The Digicel Foundation Community Engagement Programme is a small grant programme that offers funding of $10,000 for the completion of small-scale projects. In the last two years, 26 projects have been funded, impacting over 4,000 citizens throughout T&T.
