Ninety-four students of the Institute of Law and Academic Studies (ILAS) who obtained LLB degrees have graduated from the institution this year. Seema Kadir placed first in Public Law exam and was named among the top ten in the world in Criminal Law. Kimya Valentine, meanwhile, obtained three first-class marks in Year 1.
High pass rates were achieved for Jurisprudence-97 per cent, Tort Law-83 per cent, EU & Human Rights-82 per cent, Evidence -84 per cent, Company Law-90per cent. 12 students were awarded for Academic Excellence on their completion of the LLB—Shennille Boban, Luke Rajack, Isa Dookie, Fela Julien, David Subero, Sheneze Albert, Vitthal Seepersad, Melissa Sinanan-Ali, Aleeah Greenidge, Randall Karim, Tracie Spencer, and Lesha Singh. Aleeah Greenidge was the valedictorian and Most Outstanding student overall.
Randall Karim received awards for Best Performance in his Dissertation and Research and Development. Special Awards for Debating Excellence were presented to Corene Procope, Remond Bonne-Smith, and Sydney Riley. Best performances Year 1 awardees are Seema Kadir and Nicholas Emmanuel Gervais. Fela Julien was awarded for Outstanding final-year performance. Isa Dookie received a special award for Leadership and Critical thinking, while Omar Mohammed Received the award for ILAS Humanitarian Patriot Award on behalf of Colin Robinson and CAISO. Awards were given for the top students in individual subject areas.
The Honourable Madame Justice Mira Dean-Armorer, High Court Judge, Supreme Court of T&T was present at the ceremony and delivered the feature address.
