Limin in Trinidad and Tobago was launched at the Veni Mange Restaurant on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook on December 2. The event was hosted jointly by ACU Incorporated, Sunrise Publishing, and Pamberi Steel Orchestra, and aimed at promoting T&T primarily in Japan. ACU Inc, producer of the DVD, is an Event Management company of Tokyo, Japan, with a long-standing relationship with T&T through its involvement with the Pamberi Steel Orchestra. ACU has organised tours to Japan for this San Juan based steelband for the last eighteen (18) years. It has also released several CD's by Pamberi in Japan and Asia.
Sunrise Publishing is an established publishing company in Japan, and is the sponsor of the DVD project. The DVD presents different aspects of life in Trinidad, and there is the relevant music played to each section. The music is performed by some of the leading steelband musicians, and all the pieces played were original compositions inspired by the specific scenery that was depicted on film.
Earl Rodney, Ray Holman, Halfers Hadeed, Damian Holder and Earl Brooks were present at the launch. And sorely missed were Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, Jason Baptiste, and Amrit Samaroo-all from Trinidad. Andy Narell of France, and Rudy "Two Left" Smith of Denmark were also absent. The two-hour launch was chaired by Nestor Sullivan, manager of Pamberi. The DVD, Limin in Trinidad and Tobago is distributed and sold by Caribbean Music Group (CMG), a company run by Jean-Michel Gibert.
