Na­pari­ma Girls' High School (NGHS) fam­i­ly and friends cel­e­brat­ed an­oth­er suc­cess­ful and ex­cit­ing year at the Petrotrin Club, Pointe-a-Pierre, last month. In the last aca­d­e­m­ic year, the school en­joyed suc­cess in not just aca­d­e­mics, but in all of its ex­tra cur­ric­u­lar ac­tiv­i­ties.

Un­der the theme Moon­light n' Mistle­toe, Prin­ci­pal Pa­tri­cia Ram­goolam, staff, mem­bers of the school's Alum­ni As­so­ci­a­tion, and the Par­ent's Ac­tion Com­mit­tee, dined in style, then danced the evening away to the sweet sound of parang from south based group Sen­sa­cion and a DJ.

Past Chair­man of the school's Build­ing Com­mit­tee, Kelvin Har­nanan, who con­tin­ues to as­sist the school, even though his chil­dren have since grad­u­at­ed, raised a toast to the school. Prin­ci­pal Ram­goolam said the fund-rais­er,was al­so an aware­ness event to bring fo­cus to their cen­te­nary cel­e­bra­tions in 2012.

NGHS ,which was found­ed by Cana­di­an Mis­sion­ary Dr Ken­neth J Grant, in 1912, is the al­ma mater of First La­dy Dr Jean Ramjohn-Richards, for­mer First La­dy Za­lay­har Has­sanali, and first woman

House Speak­er Oc­c­ah Seep­aul. A grand cel­e­bra­tion is planned to com­mem­o­rate a cen­tu­ry of aca­d­e­m­ic and holis­tic ex­cel­lence. Mu­si­cal Per­for­mances, a Caribbean Cruise, so­cial soirees, din­ners and pub­li­ca­tions, will all form part of the cel­e­bra­tion, be­ing host­ed by the NGHS Cen­te­nary Com­mit­tee in the com­ing year.
