Re­tiree David Deane host­ed his 60th birth­day par­ty at his Blue Range, Diego Mar­tin home on De­cem­ber 26. Join­ing in the cel­e­bra­tions were his wife De­bra Deane, rel­a­tives in­clud­ing busi­ness­man Leslie Ay­oung, ca­lyp­son­ian Ed­win Ay­oung (Crazy) and rel­a­tives 85-year-old Joyce Am­ing and Mal­colm Ay­oung, 87.

Joyce Am­ing is the wid­ow of the last mas­man Neville Am­ing.

Every­one en­joyed pael­la and Christ­mas fare in­clud­ing home­made hops. Dur­ing the for­mal­i­ties Leslie Ay­oung said the Deanes' mar­riage was the first ma­jor fam­i­ly event he at­tend­ed af­ter re­turn­ing from study­ing in Eng­land. He de­scribed Deane as his "favourite drink­ing part­ner." Every­one wished Deane con­tin­ued health and suc­cess. To top it off, they danced to a slew of so­ca­parang hits from Ay­oung in­clud­ing Tito Lara, Yvonne and Parang­so­ca, pop­u­lar­ly known as Maria. As a lagniappe, Ay­oung threw in Per­cy for the fam­i­ly. (Michelle Loubon)
