There comes a time when we all begin intense soul searching journeys to fill empty voids in otherwise normal lives.  Sri Vasudeva, guru and founder of Blue Star; a non-denominational, non-profit centre dedicated to the holistic development of individuals and communities, calls it the journey of self realisation; a co-creative transformation every human should experience in conjunction with the Universe. Today, he is a guru to many, helping others as they undertake similar journeys. He teaches that emotions which evolve from human relationships are exchanges of subtle energy, which can lift a person or destabilise them. “Not everyone reaches the point of self realisation in one lifetime, but eventually we all do. People in the world are all at different spiritual levels.

“We are not just physical beings, but within lies an intelligent energy called Kundalini or mystical energy. It is a divine energy which rises from the base of the spine to the head where self realisation is achieved, it rises from chakra to chakra, taking one lifetime or many.” He explains that our emotions are energy; inside our bodies there is an infinite supply of Kundalini to tap into. “As this energy rises, we're connected to God, we come to understand we are all one, we are part of everything. We can create our own destinies and achieve self-mastery if we understand this energy within.”

Sri Vasudeva explains that there is a close tie between our physical and mental health and our spiritual well being. Our minds are busy, constantly sorting through life's chaos. Illness comes from high-strung emotions and stress. Silently, depression breaks down our immune systems. Most of the diseases we suffer from today are due to lifestyle so take all these away and we'd be amazingly healthy. Having a healthy emotional system and mind makes you resilient to life. “Meditation quiets the mind, Hatha Yoga (postures) helps remove emotional blocks, de-stresses, opens your energy channels.

There are even postures to help fight diseases.” In this fast paced life, proper breathing is considered secondary most times, if considered at all. But Sri Vasudeva says our bodies are prone to many diseases simply because we neglect to do this simple task. When we focus on the life force within, not just on the outer world, which we think defines us, we can fuel new possibilities of health, spirituality and a complete life. But if we continue to suppress this force, how will we ever find our 'self'?
