It is with dismay that I have read the stinging criticism of "the hierarchy of the Tobago House of Assembly" and the Assembly's executive by Mr Martin George, a member of the Police Service Commission in the Sunday Guardian of February 20, 2011. As I understand it, the members of that Commission are supposed to be politically independent.
It cannot be right then for Mr George to be publicly criticising The THA executive in the way he did. The President and anyone who acts for him must really take great care in choosing persons for independent public office or else we shall loose faith in that office. We had too many mis-steps in Presidential appointments. I do hope that His Excellency will read Mr George's article and do the right thing in relation to him.
