Apart from being one of the few nations in the world that appears to be quite content with having outdated and inadequate animal welfare legislation, it seems that little is being done by the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCCTT) to monitor the use of live animals during the Carnival displays; and by the government of Trinidad and Tobago to start putting laws in place and policing animal cruelty cases. The Ministry of National Security needs to have legislation to regulate the use of security dogs. If Carnival really is "the greatest show on Earth" and you want to be proud of your country, make a difference by being a voice for these animals who cannot speak the words to defend themselves.
