On March 28, "Philo" (Philomena Alexis-Baptiste) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the NGO Habitat For Humanity Trinidad and Tobago (HFHTT).This alliance is aimed at raising awareness of HFHTT's mission entitled Building Communities...Changing Lives as they continue to assist in the eradication of poverty housing in the country. As a result of this alliance, Philo hopes to encourage citizens of T&T to get involved through volunteering and/or donating to HFHTT's house-building projects. The structures are built using culturally-preferred materials of concrete blocks and galvanise roofs, as well as the participation of hard-working people from every walk of life.Philo, a philanthrope, will not only donate her time to the cause, but will provide a house-warming hamper of household products to all new HFHTT home recipients.
HFHTT is a worldwide organisation that has been serving the housing needs of people in the low-income bracket since 1997. It promotes the development of communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that families are able to access affordable housing, and thereby improve their standard of living.Through HFHTT's efforts, families are able to benefit from new houses, rehabilitations, repairs, and other services. The houses are simple, decent, and affordable to low-income families. To date, HFHTT has built 116 houses in many areas of the country, including Guaico, Mayaro, Couva, Penal and Tabaquite.
