Shaniece Pillai, a current student (final year) at Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute, pursuing the Culinary Management Programme, recently received much needed support towards a group event from The Beefeater chain of restaurants. Being part of the school's syllabus, the students have to produce an event, in the form of a function, where the students must plan, market and execute.
The event this year surrounds the theme of Loi Krathong (a Thai festival). The students sought and obtained permission from the school to solicit donations from citizens and corporate business to aid in the success of their group's event which is entitled Thailand. Westco Foods Unlimited also took the initiative and supported the cause by donating an ample supply of poultry for the event.
The function was scheduled for last Sunday. It's not too late for any organisation or citizen interested in supporting the students. To do so contact Tamara Ribeiro-Bailey, student services manager, The Trinidad & Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute, at 634-4250/4456/1315/2146-6.
