On May 10, the National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (NEC) officially opened the Guayaguayare RC Primary School's Library at the school's compound, situated at Warrick Street, New Lands Village, Guayaguayare.In his feature address, Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism and MP for the area of Mayaro, Winston Peters, commended NEC for its commitment to Mayaro/ Guayaguayare and emphasised that the, "library project must be seen as a vehicle to drive the creative and intellectual capacity and resourcefulness of our youth."The Minister has committed to ensuring that additional requirements for the library will be provided.
NEC, in its commitment to promote sustainability through the stimulation of the local economy in its fence line communities, and in an effort to promote institutional strengthening and capacity building, partnered with members of the Mayaro community to refurbish the library.This refurbishment included the painting of the facility, installation of AC units, shelving, tables, chairs, television, multimedia, computers and educational software.This project is but one in NEC's strategic Community Relations Plan which focuses on creating opportunities for developing sustainable communities in the areas in which NEC operates by working in harmony with all stakeholders.
