On Sat­ur­day, June 18, Car­ni­val 2012 was of­fi­cial­ly start­ed by vet­er­an mas­man Roland St George and his band D Krewe. The pop­u­lar south­ern King of Car­ni­val cam­paign­er, whose mas camp is pitched on Ari­api­ta Av­enue, Wood­brook, un­veiled Panache, de­signed by the team of Dou­glas John and Paul O' Donoghue.

D Krewe chose The Cen­tu­ry Ball­room, at the Queen's Park Oval, Tra­garete Road, for its launch and the event turned out to be a bumper one, de­spite in­clement weath­er. With a jump start on the rest of the field, it's left to be seen if this ear­ly launch would re­dound pos­i­tive­ly for D Krewe. Wait­ing in the wings to launch C2K11 pre­sen­ta­tions are Is­land­peo­ple Mas, Tribe and Spice.
