Publishing and printing duo, Toute Bagai Publishing (TBP) and US-based American Printing Company, has won the top prize at the Sappi Annual Printers Awards held recently in New York City. Sappi Fine Paper North America announced that Maco Caribbean Living Volume 12, Issue 1, produced by TBP, was among ten gold winners at its 14th Annual North American Printers of the Year awards for 2010-2011.
Maco repeated last year’s performance at the prestigious event when it copped the top award for its 10th-year anniversary issue.

In addition to winning the gold award this year, Toute Bagai Publishing took the bronze award in the Sheetfed magazine category for its production of Sandals Style Magazine which debuted late last year.
Sandals Style Magazine, which prints twice yearly with winter and summer editions, is distributed in more than 100,000 guest rooms at Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts in Jamaica, Antigua, the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos and Saint Lucia, as well as in a mailing to Sandals Select loyalty club members.

President and chief executive officer of American Printing Company, Robert Stanford (Bo),  said he was delighted that his printing company had been named a gold winner for the second consecutive year.
“Winning this award two years in a row with the same publication confirms Toute Bagai’s excellent design and photography, American Printing’s commitment to quality, and the extraordinary print partnership that has developed over the years,” he said.

TBP’s managing director, Neysha Soodeen, said her company’s ability to win consecutive annual awards reflected its commitment and dedication to producing a consistently high standard product. She said the awards proved that magazines in the Caribbean could, in fact, compete on a global level.
Maco Caribbean Living highlights the Caribbean’s most luxurious and architecturally creative homes, villas and resorts, and portrays the diversity of the region through the creativity of cuisine, art, gardens, and the region’s travel and tourism product.

Sappi’s Printers of the Year awards competition recognises print excellence and innovation produced on Sappi papers within the following categories of work: Annual Reports, Books, Brochures, Calendars, Catalogs, Digital, General Print, Magazines and Printe’s Own Promotions. The winning entries were selected by a highly regarded panel from a field of approximately 3,000. Each of the gold winning printers received US$20,000 in design support of their marketing initiatives for the category in which they won, and will compete for Sappi’s International Printers of the Year Awards to be held later this year.
