The Ms Elegant Mom Pageant hosted its annual competition for mothers last month at Cascadia Hotel, St Ann's. Twenty mothers participated in the pageant, which was staged in two segments, the talent show which took place in April, followed by the actual pageant which took place one month later. The mothers had weeks of preparation which included visits to popular venues, and the print and electronic media. They used the opportunities to bond with each other and to assist each other in preparation for the pageant.
In the end, Lenore Singh was crowned Ms Elegant Mom 2011. She walked away with the coveted title, a cheque for $10,000, and trophies for Best Instrumentalist, Best Smile and Best Make Up. First runner-up Ebony Baird received a cheque for $7,000; second runner-up Nikeisha Gabriel took home $5,000, along with trophies for Best Singer, Miss Photogenic, Miss Intelligence, Best Introductory Speech and Best Complexion. Sherma Burke, the third runner-up, got a cheque for $3,000, and trophies for Best Dancer, Best Model, Miss Congeniality, Best Elegant Casual Wear and Best Evening Gown.
Other winners on the night were Liselle Frauenfelder, Shamika Denoon, Traceyann Daniel, Gailon Su, Dinella Alleyne Blaize. Modelling scholarships were awarded to Roxanne Hunte, Roxanne Ifill, Jade Gonzales and Marlon Jones. The show was hosted by Candice Aching and Godfrey Pierre, and the panel of judges, headed by Lucia Eligon, included Dennette Smith, Susan Holl and Nerissa Blackman.
