Lorendra Pinder, a former St Augustine Girls' High School student, graduated Magna Cum Laude this May from Pace University's Pforzheimer Honors College with her Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Women & Gender Studies, and Political Science. Upon graduating, she received the Community Service Award presented to the undergraduate student whose active contributions to the life of the university community and to the endeavours of the neighbours in the surrounding community and most admirably embody an appreciation for the value of social responsibility.
While at Pace she was a head delegate for the Pace University Model United Nations Team, President of the Stonewall Coalition, Editor of Pace's Aphros Literary Magazine, a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, a tutor at the Writing Centre, a faculty assistant for civic engagement and a student assistant for the Office for Student Success.
Her undergraduate awards include the Jeannette K Watson Fellowship, the Outstanding Delegation for the Netherlands at Model United Nations, the English Department Gerard Cannon Leadership Award, the Honors College Scholarship and Senior Thesis Research Grant. She is the recent recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to South Africa for research on youth and HIV/Aids to begin in March 2012, and is currently completing a three month internship at AMIDEAST in Tunis, Tunisia. Loredra is the daughter of Guardian Media Ltd's employee, Cassandra Pinder.
