On August 27 and 28, St Augustine Chamber Orchestra (SACO) will presents the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic (TTYP) in concert at Queen's Hall, St Ann's, from 4.30 pm.TTYP will host 'Great Classical Overtures' in culmination of SACO/TTYP's seventh annual music workshop where approximately 200 students ages four-24 were tutored for three weeks of 90 contact hours by a team of 18 Venezuelan string, wind and brass specialists, led by Heemath Jahoor and Kenneth Listhrop, the founder, conductor and music director of both orchestras.Jahoor is from the State Foundation for the National System of Youth Orchestras and Choirs in Caracas, Venezuela (FESNOJIV).The repertoire includes performances of familiar and famous classical overtures performed by TTYP's Junior/Intermediate Orchestra, arranged and conducted by young assistant music director Sameer Alladin.
TTYP's Advance Orchestra, with conductor Kenneth Listhrop, will perform some of the world greatest classical overtures including the Magic Flute, Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Von Suppe's Light Cavalry, Rossini's Barber of Seville and William Tell, Mendelssohn's Hebrides, Bizet's Les Toreadors, and the grand finale 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.A spokesperson said that SACO continues to recognise with gratitude and applaud the unwavering kind generosity of the corporate community namely Atlantic, the main sponsor of this year's music workshop and concerts, and the National Gas Company of T&T.
