On Au­gust 27 and 28, St Au­gus­tine Cham­ber Or­ches­tra (SACO) will presents the Trinidad and To­ba­go Youth Phil­har­mon­ic (TTYP) in con­cert at Queen's Hall, St Ann's, from 4.30 pm.TTYP will host 'Great Clas­si­cal Over­tures' in cul­mi­na­tion of SACO/TTYP's sev­enth an­nu­al mu­sic work­shop where ap­prox­i­mate­ly 200 stu­dents ages four-24 were tu­tored for three weeks of 90 con­tact hours by a team of 18 Venezue­lan string, wind and brass spe­cial­ists, led by Heemath Ja­hoor and Ken­neth Listhrop, the founder, con­duc­tor and mu­sic di­rec­tor of both or­ches­tras.Ja­hoor is from the State Foun­da­tion for the Na­tion­al Sys­tem of Youth Or­ches­tras and Choirs in Cara­cas, Venezuela (FES­NO­JIV).The reper­toire in­cludes per­for­mances of fa­mil­iar and fa­mous clas­si­cal over­tures per­formed by TTYP's Ju­nior/In­ter­me­di­ate Or­ches­tra, arranged and con­duct­ed by young as­sis­tant mu­sic di­rec­tor Sameer Al­ladin.

TTYP's Ad­vance Or­ches­tra, with con­duc­tor Ken­neth Listhrop, will per­form some of the world great­est clas­si­cal over­tures in­clud­ing the Mag­ic Flute, Mozart's Mar­riage of Fi­garo, Von Suppe's Light Cav­al­ry, Rossi­ni's Bar­ber of Seville and William Tell, Mendelssohn's He­brides, Bizet's Les Tore­adors, and the grand fi­nale 1812 Over­ture by Tchaikovsky.A spokesper­son said that SACO con­tin­ues to recog­nise with grat­i­tude and ap­plaud the un­wa­ver­ing kind gen­eros­i­ty of the cor­po­rate com­mu­ni­ty name­ly At­lantic, the main spon­sor of this year's mu­sic work­shop and con­certs, and the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny of T&T.
