The An­gels on Earth Foun­da­tion re­ceived a bless­ing on Au­gust 19, when some Dig­i­cel staffers vis­it­ed the Foun­da­tion bear­ing gifts for the first project un­der Dig­i­cel Hope-the um­brel­la un­der which Dig­i­cel will im­ple­ment its cor­po­rate so­cial re­spon­si­bil­i­ty pro­grammes. As part of Dig­i­cel's ef­forts in the area of pover­ty al­le­vi­a­tion, the Foun­da­tion was pro­vid­ed with two liv­ing and two din­ing room sets, kitchen ap­pli­ances and a cool­ing sys­tem.

Dig­i­cel's con­tri­bu­tion, ac­cord­ing to Di­rec­tor of the Foun­da­tion, An­gela Camp­bell-Gomez, "pro­vides an en­abling en­vi­ron­ment where the chil­dren can now prac­tice the ta­ble man­ners and eti­quette they are taught. The man­agers of the home fo­cus on in­still­ing high morals and val­ues in the chil­dren and there is al­so a clear em­pha­sis on ed­u­ca­tion. The chil­dren are tak­en on both fun and ed­u­ca­tion­al out­ings to give them a well-round­ed ex­pe­ri­ence."

The Dig­i­cel em­ploy­ees, who were bowled over by the ap­pre­ci­a­tion shown for the items pro­vid­ed, al­so took the time to chat, sing with and read sto­ries to the chil­dren. The young­sters in turn, staged a grip­ping play for the Dig­i­cel vis­i­tors ti­tled 'Life'-and were re­ward­ed with hearty ap­plause for the tal­ent dis­played.

The An­gels on Earth Foun­da­tion pro­vides a home in Trinidad and To­ba­go for chil­dren and ado­les­cents un­der the age of 18 who have been abused, ne­glect­ed, and have no suit­able en­vi­ron­ment in which to live.

The Foun­da­tion is re­spon­si­ble for en­sur­ing that the chil­dren are en­rolled in school and are pro­vid­ed with a lov­ing, nur­tur­ing en­vi­ron­ment in which they may lead se­cure, com­fort­able lives. 'Dig­i­cel Hope' will un­der­take a num­ber of com­mu­ni­ty ini­tia­tives through­out the year in the ar­eas of: pover­ty re­duc­tion, com­mu­ni­ty build­ing, sup­port in the cause against pae­di­atric can­cer and pro­vid­ing as­sis­tance to or­gan­i­sa­tions that at­tend to chil­dren with spe­cial needs.
