Scores of performers walked the boards at Little Carib Theatre, Woodbrook, on August 26, at the Ministry of Community Development's Prime Minister's Best Village Trophy Competition. They drew on elements of traditional T&T folklore and culture to create poetry, music and plays. They competed in categories including poetry, short story, folk character, ceremonies and customs, Anansi stories, festival heritage and carnival skit.
Although most of the village groups, which represented communities around Trinidad, relied on tried and tested formulas, they did manage to entertain the audience of supporters at the Carib, who showed vocal and enthusiastic approval. All champions in the 2011 Prime Minister's Best Village Trophy Competition will be announced on Saturday evening when Le Gran Z'Affaire-La Reine Rive Final is held at 2 pm, at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
