Scores of per­form­ers walked the boards at Lit­tle Carib The­atre, Wood­brook, on Au­gust 26, at the Min­istry of Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment's Prime Min­is­ter's Best Vil­lage Tro­phy Com­pe­ti­tion.They drew on el­e­ments of tra­di­tion­al T&T folk­lore and cul­ture to cre­ate po­et­ry, mu­sic and plays.They com­pet­ed in cat­e­gories in­clud­ing po­et­ry, short sto­ry, folk char­ac­ter, cer­e­monies and cus­toms, Anan­si sto­ries, fes­ti­val her­itage and car­ni­val skit.

Al­though most of the vil­lage groups, which rep­re­sent­ed com­mu­ni­ties around Trinidad, re­lied on tried and test­ed for­mu­las, they did man­age to en­ter­tain the au­di­ence of sup­port­ers at the Carib, who showed vo­cal and en­thu­si­as­tic ap­proval.All cham­pi­ons in the 2011 Prime Min­is­ter's Best Vil­lage Tro­phy Com­pe­ti­tion will be an­nounced on Sat­ur­day evening when Le Gran Z'Af­faire-La Reine Rive Fi­nal is held at 2 pm, at the Queen's Park Sa­van­nah, Port-of-Spain.
