Despite the state of emergency and limited curfew, Indian High Commissioner Malay Mishra hosted an Iftar Dinner at India House, Federation Park, on August 23.Iftar, according to Wikipedia, refers to the evening meal for breaking the daily fast during the Islamic month of Ramadan.Iftar during Ramadan is often done as a community, with Muslims gathering to break their fast together.The time for Iftar is 12 to 15 minutes after sunset. It is better to offer "Magrib Namza/salat" and then break one's fast, preferably with water, milk or dates.Among Muslim leaders who participated in the Iftar dinner were president of ASJA, Yacoob Ali, and principal of the Islamic Institute in Charlieville, Mufti Assarul Haq.
