Be a part of a global event on October 29, when élan parle and Theron Shaw Trio join Jazzpoint to participate in its second "Harmony for Humanity" experience, which is part of the tenth annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days network.The Jazzpoint 2K11 venue is Gulf View Community Centre, La Romaine.The late Daniel Pearl was an international journalist and musician and the Committee members of the Daniel Pearl Foundation include Barbra Streisand, Herbie Hancock, Ravi Shankar and Sir Elton John. Over 6,000 such events have been held in 111 countries since 2002.
During the month of October of each year Daniel Pearl World Music Days joins together thousands from around the world under the theme of "Harmony for Humanity," to celebrate the power of music to bring people together and focus on our common humanity, rather than the differences that set us apart. October is Calypso History Month and this event is a Calypso Jazz/World Music mix that will feature performances by élan parle from their latest CD release-"Jazzalapso." The Theron Shaw Trio will also feature music from its most recent CD-"Right Here, Right Now."Jazzpoint's Cocktail Hour and Listening Party starts at 6 pm, with showtime ending promptly at 8.30 pm.
Since 1999, Jazzpoint has been a supporter of music for cultural good. This is a cultural awareness event, not a fund-raiser. VIP advance admission ticket cost $175; and, cocktails plus gourmet foods tickets are $100. Tickets are available at Off the Wall, Gulf City, La Romaine (652-6524), Cross Crossing (652-6235), and, at the Gulf View Community Centre Box Office between 9 am and 4 pm on October 29. At the door patrons pay more.
