It had been 40 years since they shared the same class­room, ate lunch to­geth­er and cre­at­ed fun mem­o­ries. On April 28, past stu­dents of Point Fortin East Sec­ondary School, for­mer­ly Point Fortin Col­lege and Point Fortin Se­nior Sec­ondary, rekin­dled old ties when they met at the third an­nu­al Friends and Flavour, Sea­soned with Time re­union at the school. The class of 1972 fea­tured promi­nent­ly. The event was held as part of the Point Fortin Bor­ough Day cel­e­bra­tions and in­clud­ed a num­ber of man­agers, en­gi­neers, school teach­ers and jour­nal­ists who had at­tend­ed the school. They were treat­ed to meals pre­pared by cur­rent mem­bers of staff, while live en­ter­tain­ment was pro­vid­ed by for­mer stu­dents We­st­on "Cro Cro" Rawl­ins and Den­isha An­drews, and the Old Tech Steel Or­ches­tra. The high­light of the evening, how­ev­er, came when town hero and mul­ti­ple Road March and So­ca Monarch win­ner, Austin "Su­per Blue" Lyons took the stage. Singing some old songs such as Jab­mo­lassie, Lara and So­ca Bap­tist, he got those in at­ten­dance off their seats, turn­ing the event in­to a par­ty. Every­one formed a con­ga line and played iron as the so­ca icon brought back mem­o­ries of his glo­ry days.
