It had been 40 years since they shared the same classroom, ate lunch together and created fun memories. On April 28, past students of Point Fortin East Secondary School, formerly Point Fortin College and Point Fortin Senior Secondary, rekindled old ties when they met at the third annual Friends and Flavour, Seasoned with Time reunion at the school. The class of 1972 featured prominently. The event was held as part of the Point Fortin Borough Day celebrations and included a number of managers, engineers, school teachers and journalists who had attended the school. They were treated to meals prepared by current members of staff, while live entertainment was provided by former students Weston "Cro Cro" Rawlins and Denisha Andrews, and the Old Tech Steel Orchestra. The highlight of the evening, however, came when town hero and multiple Road March and Soca Monarch winner, Austin "Super Blue" Lyons took the stage. Singing some old songs such as Jabmolassie, Lara and Soca Baptist, he got those in attendance off their seats, turning the event into a party. Everyone formed a conga line and played iron as the soca icon brought back memories of his glory days.
