The US Em­bassy has an­nounced a num­ber of schol­ar­ships avail­able un­der the Ful­bright Pro­gram to na­tion­als of T&T. It is the US gov­ern­ment's pre­mier in­ter­na­tion­al ed­u­ca­tion­al ex­change pro­gramme. A re­lease from the em­bassy stat­ed the in­vi­ta­tion to ap­ply is open to any­one pos­sess­ing ex­cel­lent aca­d­e­m­ic records. How­ev­er, US cit­i­zens, hold­ers of a US le­gal per­ma­nent res­i­den­cy (Green Card) or peo­ple with ex­ten­sive study ex­pe­ri­ence in the US are not el­i­gi­ble.The em­bassy says it is cur­rent­ly ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions for the fol­low­ing schol­ar­ships:Ful­bright Re­gion­al Net­work for Ap­plied Re­search (NEXUS) Pro­gram.

This pro­gramme will link fac­ul­ty, ap­plied re­searchers and pub­lic pol­i­cy pro­fes­sion­als across the West­ern Hemi­sphere through in­ter­na­tion­al ex­changes and sem­i­nars, al­low­ing grantees to spend up to one year en­gaged in col­lab­o­ra­tive think­ing, analy­sis, prob­lem-solv­ing and mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary re­search in one of three in­ter-re­lat­ed ar­eas: sci­ence, tech­nol­o­gy and in­no­va­tion; en­tre­pre­neur­ship; and sus­tain­able en­er­gy. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tion is May 31. Fac­ul­ty De­vel­op­ment Pro­gram-For grad­u­ate study for fac­ul­ty of ter­tiary-lev­el in­sti­tu­tions with at least two years of teach­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. Nom­i­na­tion by ap­pli­cant's uni­ver­si­ty. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tion is June 15. The For­eign Stu­dent Pro­gram-For grad­u­ate study in the So­cial Sci­ences and Hu­man­i­ties. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tion is June 15.

Hu­bert H Humphrey Pro­gram-A non-de­gree pro­gram geared to­wards pro­fes­sion­al de­vel­op­ment. Fel­lows are re­cruit­ed from both the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tors. At least five-years work­ing ex­pe­ri­ence and a first de­gree are nec­es­sary. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tion is Au­gust 15.
