Maracas Beach, one of Trinidad and Tobago's most well known tourist attractions, recently received an upgrade as telecommunications giant Bmobile launched Bzone, its free Wi-Fi service on May 13. A release from the company stated that Bzone provides free Wi-fi service offering 4G speeds for people along the beach. The access is free only to Blink and bmobile customers. "In addition to general recreational use, we recognise that high-speed wireless access can be an important resource for supporting equipment used for monitoring of tides and currents, electronic security systems and even life-saving communications solutions" said Lisa Agard, EVP of bmobile services and company retail distribution. "We aim to integrate high-speed wireless access in meaningful ways in the day to day lives of people so that it can have the same transformative effects here that it has had in more developed countries."
To celebrate the occasion the beach lime treated beach-goers to a day of entertainment and fan interaction with real time posts and updates on social network cites to demonstrate the ease of using the service. Beach-goers got the opportunity to tweet and upload pictures on Facebook of their fun in the sun. Boom Champions radio personalities Sunny Bling and Mr Smooth served as ringmasters for this Sunday afternoon beach lime of engaging events. While some went head to head in modeling their Bzone airbrushed body artwork, executing inventive poses for the barrage of seaside paparazzi, others competed in bake-and-shark eating competitions or raced in giant-sized transparent, human molecules. In the spirit of Mother's Day there was also a mother versus daughter race, and an enormous water slide for the children.
