Mara­cas Beach, one of Trinidad and To­ba­go's most well known tourist at­trac­tions, re­cent­ly re­ceived an up­grade as telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions gi­ant Bmo­bile launched Bzone, its free Wi-Fi ser­vice on May 13. A re­lease from the com­pa­ny stat­ed that Bzone pro­vides free Wi-fi ser­vice of­fer­ing 4G speeds for peo­ple along the beach. The ac­cess is free on­ly to Blink and bmo­bile cus­tomers. "In ad­di­tion to gen­er­al recre­ation­al use, we recog­nise that high-speed wire­less ac­cess can be an im­por­tant re­source for sup­port­ing equip­ment used for mon­i­tor­ing of tides and cur­rents, elec­tron­ic se­cu­ri­ty sys­tems and even life-sav­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tions so­lu­tions" said Lisa Agard, EVP of bmo­bile ser­vices and com­pa­ny re­tail dis­tri­b­u­tion. "We aim to in­te­grate high-speed wire­less ac­cess in mean­ing­ful ways in the day to day lives of peo­ple so that it can have the same trans­for­ma­tive ef­fects here that it has had in more de­vel­oped coun­tries."

To cel­e­brate the oc­ca­sion the beach lime treat­ed beach-go­ers to a day of en­ter­tain­ment and fan in­ter­ac­tion with re­al time posts and up­dates on so­cial net­work cites to demon­strate the ease of us­ing the ser­vice. Beach-go­ers got the op­por­tu­ni­ty to tweet and up­load pic­tures on Face­book of their fun in the sun. Boom Cham­pi­ons ra­dio per­son­al­i­ties Sun­ny Bling and Mr Smooth served as ring­mas­ters for this Sun­day af­ter­noon beach lime of en­gag­ing events. While some went head to head in mod­el­ing their Bzone air­brushed body art­work, ex­e­cut­ing in­ven­tive pos­es for the bar­rage of sea­side pa­parazzi, oth­ers com­pet­ed in bake-and-shark eat­ing com­pe­ti­tions or raced in gi­ant-sized trans­par­ent, hu­man mol­e­cules. In the spir­it of Moth­er's Day there was al­so a moth­er ver­sus daugh­ter race, and an enor­mous wa­ter slide for the chil­dren.
