The 2012 Sug­ar and En­er­gy Fes­ti­val opened on May 26 at Gilbert Park in Cou­va. The three-days cal­en­der of events fea­ture art ex­hi­bi­tion and dra­ma ses­sions, as well as chut­ney and ca­lyp­so, mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment, a pageant, a cul­tur­al ex­trav­a­gan­za and sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties. One of the main at­trac­tions was the tra­di­tion­al street pa­rade. Cel­e­brat­ing its 15th an­niver­sary this year, the Sug­ar & En­er­gy Fes­ti­val was or­gan­ised by the Cou­va/Pt Lisas Cham­ber of Com­merce (CPCC), in as­so­ci­a­tion with the Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (CT­TRC).
