The Unit Trust Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago recently partnered with the Just Because Foundation (JBF) to host an Evening of Games. A release from the UTC said the initiative helped cultivate and cement relationships between the company, the JBF and those who work in the wider community and who know first-hand the challenges that children with cancer face. With an array of games ranging from snakes and ladders, ludo and draughts that brought back the nostalgic days, to the stimulating Gesture game where performers express meaning to words through gestures and the timeless colouring books which tested the imagination and creativity of the children. Guests were also treated to a magic show.
Based in Diego Martin, JBF is an incorporated, non-profit, paediatric cancer support organisation established by Noel and Chevaughn Joseph who, after a tenacious two-year battle, lost their five-and-a-half-year-old son Jabez "JB" Joseph to Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. "The better we know our communities, the better we can serve them. As such this outreach activity can play an important role in improving our understanding of the communities in which we work and serve," said Eutrice Carrington, executive director, UTC.
