The organising committee of this year's edition of Dining with the Saints is promising patrons a "cornucopia of food, beverages and music." The culinary extravaganza, hosted annually by the St Mary's College Past Students' Union, is in its 13th year and comes off on June 30 at the school on Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain. A release from the committee said the $300 admission ticket entitles patrons to a full dinner, with a choice of entrees. CIC past students from the banking community will be out in full force to show off their culinary skills. Among them will be Richard Young, CEO of Scotiabank, leading Raymond Smith, Gilbert Sankar and Kerry Frederick. Republic Bank's team will be led by deputy CEO Nigel Baptiste and includes Derwin Howell and Ian De Souza.
Michael Mansoor, CEO of CIBC First Caribbean Bank, will fly in from Barbados for the event. Suresh Sookoo, RBC Royal Bank's CEO for the Caribbean, will make his debut, leading David Hackett, Patrick Kelly, Ansel Howell and Gregory Weekes. John Peter (JP) Clarke will be the lone representative from ANSA Merchant Bank. The team from the political fraternity will include Food Production Minister Vasant Bharath, Diego Martin North East MP Colm Imbert, Senator Terrence Deyalsingh and former MPs Mariano Browne, Ken Butcher and Augustus Ramrekersingh. The pan fraternity will be well represented, with Ainsworth Mohammed co-ordinating his team, Patrick Arnold, Pan Trinbago's Kairon Serrette, Nicky Inniss and Lawford Duprey. Chefs from the business community will include Gregory Aboud, Steve Santos and Andre Baptiste.
CIC past and present principals, Frs Anton Dick and Ron Mendes, respectively, will head the team of CIC teacher/chefs.
Guest chefs from other secondary schools will also participate. They will represent QRC, Fatima College, Belmont Intermediate, Holy Name Convent and St Joseph's Convent, Port-of-Spain. Entertainment will be provided by pianist Frankie Callender, accompanied by vocalist Margarita; Xavier Strings; 3Canal and Republic Bank Exodus Steel Orchestra. Secure parking will be provided at a number of car parks close to the college, including Atlantic Energy at upper Pembroke Street, JD Sellier's at upper Abercromby Street, and Scotiabank at the corner of Park and Pembroke streets. There will be a free shuttle service to and from these car parks.
