End Hunger group supports Rio +20 summit

Participants in the ‘Rio Claro supports Rio +20 The future we want’ walk in Rio Claro on June 10.

 

In recognition of the Rio +20 Summit to be held in Rio De Janeiro from June 20-22, the End Hunger Committee (EHC) of Rio Claro mobilised over 2,000 participants who walked and expressed their views on the topics to be discussed at the summit, themed  “Rio +20 the future we want.” Among the topics that will be deliberated are Environmental Sustainability, Alleviating Poverty and the Green Economy and the Millennium Development Goals. The committee, in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), citizens, NGOs, CBOs, educational institutions and faith-based organisations participated in the event, “Rio Claro supports Rio +20 The future we want,” held on June 10 in Rio Claro.  
Uniformed bands provided music for the walk. Guest speakers included Amanda Lawrence of UNIC, and Pastor Clive Dottin.
