Timothy Corbin admits he has been lucky to travel the world over the last ten years in his career in the oil and gas industry. Each destination provided mind-blowing subjects for Corbin to take photos, just as a record of each visit. The more photos he took, the more his family and friend network encouraged him to dig deeper as he clearly had a natural eye. "I purchased my first DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera in November, 2010. I decided to see if I could be any good at photography. I read numerous books and watched many tutorials online, which I still do to try and make my shots better." Corbin is now wowing many with his photography through his Facebook page, Timothy Corbin photography. The initial interest and public encouragement came when he joined Flickr, an online photo sharing Web site which is interoperable with the major social media platforms, making sharing a breeze. "I decided to join Flickr early on so I could get feedback from professional photographers and generally everyone to gauge what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong or what I could improve."
Since joining Flickr, Corbin noticed that with every new photo he uploaded, he would get more and more views along with many positive comments. "That's when I realised that I probably have a natural eye to capture a good frame." Corbin added. "I've been very privileged to travel to many different countries and the one thing I regret is not getting into photography years earlier as it was something I have always wanted to do. I tried to capture the beauty of their landscapes and cities. Different scenery is always inspiration for a landscape photographer, as the options are endless." As for whether photography will become a career for Corbin, he says, "It did start as a hobby that I decided to go all into, which is the way I do most things in my life-all in or nothing. So whether or not it turns into a career, it will always be rewarding to me because I am doing it for myself, first and foremost." Corbin's favourite place to shoot so far? Trinidad and Tobago. "T&T has to be my number one since it will always be my home and the beauty of the islands speak for themselves. I don't think there are enough local photographers who devote their photography to landscape in Trinidad, so I thought my input could fill that gap, in my own unique way. Australia comes in at a very close second."
