The nu­mer­ous nat­ur­al re­sources of T&T makes it one of the best hik­ing des­ti­na­tions in the Caribbean. The ge­o­log­i­cal struc­ture of the North­ern Range con­sist of count­less wa­ter­falls, rivers, and val­leys. The sea­son­al ever­green for­est has more than 450 species of birds pro­vid­ing a fas­ci­nat­ing op­por­tu­ni­ty for any­one in­ter­est­ed in bird watch­ing. The miles of un­in­hab­it­ed beach­es are nest­ing grounds for the leatherback tur­tles, and hid­den be­tween the val­leys are caves that house oil birds and bats.

The swamp lands of the cen­tral range play an im­por­tant role in our eco­log­i­cal sys­tem and pro­vide shel­ter to the Scar­let Ibis and man­a­tee. In the south there are mud vol­ca­noes and one of the nat­ur­al won­ders is the Pitch Lake. To­ba­go is al­so full of nat­ur­al re­sources. Sandy beach­es, Buc­coo Reef, the Ny­lon Pool, 230 species of birds and nu­mer­ous wa­ter­falls. The five is­lands at the Drag­on's Mouth have a rich his­to­ry from cen­turies of Span­ish, French and Eng­lish coloni­sa­tion, and then there are the pop­u­lar Gas­pa­ree Caves man­aged by the CDA. From Ju­ly 6 to 15 the Is­land Hik­ers Club will host the St Croix Hik­ing As­so­ci­a­tion's team of 30 hik­ers on ex­plo­rations of T&T's hik­ing trails, in­clud­ing:
