The Rotary Club of St Augustine held its handing-over function at the Hyatt Regency hotel on June 22. At the function, Dr Deo Singh handed over the presidency to Vishnue Balroop. The guest speaker, Israel Khan, SC, dealt with crime and its deadly impact on the society. He also challenged the club to adopt the nearby underprivileged and depressed community of Bangladesh, where the rotarians can create an impact as well as make a significant difference, especially in the lives of the children living there. The theme for 2012 is Peace Through Service. Special tribute was paid to 95-year-old past president of the club, Thomas Bleadsdell, one of the foundation members of the club.
