Past students of the La Brea RC School reflected on their childhood days at the school’s second fund-raising reunion, at the Brighton Sports club, on July 21. The former students socialised with friends they had not seen in years.
Approximately 120 people, including past pupils and residents from the La Brea region who have actively contributed actively to the community, were in attendance. Proceeds from the all-inclusive event went toward purchasing equipment for and upgrading the school. The evening began with the presentation of awards to Carl Matthews, Andy Balfour and Gerald Debesett for their outstanding contributions to the school. Former teachers Augustus Pascall, Ann Tittle and Sadie Cox Bramble were also honoured with awards.

The students reflected on their childhood and carefree days and expressed gratitude to their alma mater for contributing to their overall development. They demonstrated their appreciation by donating multimedia projectors, DVD players, desktop and laptop computers to the school. The evening ended with dinner and live music by the La Brea Nightingales on the steelpan. Robert Huggins and the Union Band amused the audience with his performance of ‘oldies,’ prompting the crowd to get up and dance.
